1.         Crown Height – Generally 4 to 5 inches; teardrop or center dent shapes are typical.

 

2.         Brim Width – Typically 2 to 3 inches; snap brim (up at the back and down at the front) can be an option.

 

3.         Material – Usually constructed from 100% wool felt, fur felt (such as rabbit), or straw, for summer versions.

 

4.         Color – Classic fedoras feature basic colors like black, grey, brown, navy, and tan; seasonal designs might use lighter hues.

 

 

5.         Sweatband – Internal strip constructed of leather or manmade material for a proper fit and absorption of perspiration.

 

6.         Hatband – Inconspicuous ribbon or leather strip about the crown; could contain bow or feather design accent.

 

7.         Stiffness – Soft/crushable to firm for structured form; determines how well the hat holds its shape.
